6TH ISMAAR WORLD CONGRESS ON MILD APPROACHES IN ASSISTED REPRODUCTION

The field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Reproductive Medicine are witnessing a significant progress and change, especially after Professor Robert G. Edwards won the 2010 Nobel Prize. The world’s first in vitro fertilization (IVF) baby was born from natural cycle. Superovulation became a common practice in IVF later, which has been considered as ‘standard’ or ‘conventional’ procedure. Conventional IVF is widely used globally. However, concerns regarding side-effects and risks of gonadotropin stimulation on women’s health and embryo safety have initiated a scientific movement towards a more physiological and milder approach in ART. Furthermore, there is an urgent need to make ART accessible, affordable and patient-friendly. Therefore, a non-profit making scientific society was created in 2007 called The International Society for Mild Approaches in Assisted Reproduction (ISMAAR). This society is dedicated to exchanging knowledge and ideas in this field and making ART more physiological and affordable. After the 5th World Congress of ISMAAR in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 2012, the next congress will be held in Nanjing, China.

Nanjing is one of the famous cities in China. The historical background of the city is very attractive with so many antique places to visit. We trust the meeting will not only be scientifically rewarding but also socially very enjoyable.
We look forward to seeing you in Nanjing in 2013. Welcome to Nanjing!
Sincerely yours,
